Hardcovers are case laminate. Dust jackets aren't always an option, but they can be easily destroyed or ripped, leaving the reader with a plain matte book with no artwork. I love the idea of having the artwork printed right on the book. Because matte covers attract smudges that can be permanent or difficult to remove, these covers are glossy.
