Raven Black hunts evildoers for fun, but her vigilante justice isn’t the only reason she’s hiding from the law. Half Vampire, half Mage, she’s spent years living as a rogue to stay alive. When a Russian Shifter offers her a job in his covert organization hunting outlaws, dignity and a respectable career are finally within her grasp. The catch? Her new partner is Christian Poe - a smug, handsome Vampire whom she’d rather stake than go on a stakeout with.
They're hot on the trail of a human killer who will stop at nothing to get what he wants. One misstep during her probationary period could jeopardize Raven’s chance at redemption, and her partner would love nothing more than to see her fail. Dark secrets, unexpected twists, and a blurred line between good and evil will keep you on the edge of your seat.
Will Raven find the courage to succeed, or will she give in to her dark nature?
Crossbreed is a powerful new Urban Fantasy Romance series that will captivate your imagination. Immortals live among us.

What's on the horizon

As I sit here going through emails, probably the most common question I'm receiving is will there be more of the Seven series now that's it's over?

I received a lot of similar questions when I ended the Mageri series, and even though readers had to wait, that the wait was worth it for Simon to get his own story in RISK and for there to be another glimpse in their world via THE GIFT.

This early on, I can't say yes or not. And when I end a series, I don't like to slam the door shut. I love giving readers the gift of allowing their imaginations to run wild with all the "what ifs" while also allowing myself the opportunity to revisit through a novella or spinoff if a story beckons me. I hope  as a fan you'll stay on my newsletter and keep checking in so you don't miss any news on upcoming projects, because you never know what might be just around the corner.

I love the Seven world as much as I did the Mageri. I became close to those characters as I write them, their personalities so strong that they leap off the page. It's always hard to leave behind the familiar and step into the unknown, but the journey was worth it when I left the Mageri series and began a new story that captivated the imaginations of so many readers. I love the newness and challenge of a series as much as I love the comfort of an old one.

Characters become home. But so often when the story is dragged out, it erases that love readers have with bad books. When you're talking about immortals and semi-immortals who will live on for thousands of years and beyond, there's no real conclusive ending. Not when you think about it. I could go on, but that would mean major shifts in the story and timeline, and readers might not like it.

Sooooooooooooo, as for whether or not there will be more of the Seven world, that door was left open a crack.

I will say one thing: a spinoff would not be loaded with cameos, and it might not even be comparable to the others in how the book or series is structured. That could mean it's even better. As a writer, I'm more challenged with creating something new and not mirroring what I've already done.

I totally plan to write more paranormal romance, just as I am currently putting out more urban fantasy romance with the CROSSBREED series. What's the difference? Urban fantasy focuses more on plot than romance, and most urban fantasies - even with romance - center around one protagonist, whereas in paranormal romance, each book is devoted to a new couple.

If you've read all my books, then I think you'll see how different they are. Yet my world is the same, which will always give you familiar ground, and it makes crossovers (if any) even that much more special. And yep, I totally put hints in my books that sometimes you won't pick up until the second read or after you've read the other. Like in TWO MINUTES when someone died, a chess piece was put on their grave. It's hinted to but never said - Simon Hunt did that. Readers who read the Mageri series first might have picked up on that. If you're curious about chronological reading order of how all my books list, go here: http://www.dannikadark.net/p/reading-order.html

I cannot wait for CROSSBREED. There is a possibility I could release other books or even another series while the Crossbreed series is running, but it's only January and too early to tell. I'm always working on side projects, but it's just a matter of determining what I can manage. As much as readers want more books, I know you guys don't want any of them to feel rushed, so that's why I always take my time with each and every story, making sure it's absolutely the way it was meant to be before I even announce the release. :)

Happy reading!
